One of greatest problems the world faces
about food supply is starvation. The population has exploded from 2 billion in
1930 to 6.8 billion in 2010 (Black, 2010). This means more people to feed. This
problem can be addressed by hybrid rice, which provides a bigger crop in the
area planted (Yuan, 2000). The further implication is that hybrid rice can meet
the food demand of China, also it can promote the hybrid rice research in other
developing countries. Compared with genetically modified crop, it is safer, as
it is the result of natural nurture. Therefore, more land can be saved to built
houses and other infrastructure.
One of the greatest problem people face is
increasing shortage of land for food production. Using public areas, which are
available to plant something to eat, is one approach to produce food yields
more. There is a strong likelihood that some
people will disagree with the plan because certain public areas can be used to
build the park to be more comfortable and peaceful to surroundings as social
space, while the output may increase substantially enough to solve the problem.
In addition, it is quite likely that the people might be risk in terms of water
pollution if chemical fertilizer is used too much there. Therefore, government
may need to release an environmental policy to manage the usage of the land and
produce food safely.
One of the greatest problem the world faces is
malnutrition. This problem can be addressed by encouraging local food
production system. An example is hybrid rice in China, which increasing the
volume of rice production. This not only could solve the starvation issue in
China, but significantly increase the nutritional level. However, this solution
is not appropriate for everywhere such as high altitude area.
A further major causes for concern
is he impact of food shortage of population explosion. Part of the
solution is implementing one-child policy to reduce the population
growth. This can have a negative impact on labor force, because the
average age will continue to grow dramatically. The result could be an
extremely low amount of people with working abilities. Moreover, the
responsibility of young families could be much better than before. Due to the
phenomenon called four-two-one.
